Online pitches are open year-round. We welcome ideas for features, interviews, personal essays, commentary, photography, art and other work that feels at home on the Proper Brown website.
Print magazine submissions open separately for each issue and are only accepted during an active submission period. When submissions for a new issue are open, you’ll find the theme, submission dates and full details on this page and across socials.
We’re particularly interested in original and unpublished work, but you don’t need an established portfolio or a long list of credits to pitch to us. What matters is the work and the idea behind it.
